What are some common “Post-Launch Mistakes” to avoid?
Interestingly, we have found many comments from our subscribers about post-launch mistakes and how to avoid them. We recommend creating a relationship with your creative agency, which does not end at launch. This could also mean, looking past some freelance job boards. We create three blog posts on our feelings about job board. Job board, Job board, and finally job board. The reality about job boards is the relationship has a beginning (start of the project) and end (launch of the project), but most creative projects do not align with the same relationship. Post-launch is one of the most important elements of the design process. Some common errors to avoid during the post-launch.
Spam
Spam submission on contact forms or blog posts is a real issue. This can be a nightmare for some organizations, who have no one to monitor bots spammers. We have recommended Antispam, which is our favorite. Make sure your organization has some protection to avoid a future headache, and spam comments could lead to a slow page load and hacking of your organization’s digital platform.
Page Load
Slow performance due to hosting configuration. Nothing is worst than creating your organization’s dream digital platform only to have it exist on a slow-performing hosting platform. If your organization selects a creative agency, that does not offer analytic tracking for a minimum of three to six months, then your organization should run. Your organization needs to know the uptime, downtime, page load speed, and where traffic is coming from…and do not think that these are not important elements.
Indexing
Indexing error on search engine platforms. Your organization’s digital platform should be registered with all the top search engines. And after registering your organization’s digital platform, someone needs to verify if your organization’s digital platform was indexed correctly. While Google is important, there are other search engines that your organization’s digital platform should be registered on.
Feature Image
Incorrect feature image for social sharing. Branding is important. Branding is important. Branding is important. Making sure your feature image is correct on all social media platforms for sharing is critical. Remember social media platforms are a free, in terms of cost and not time, way to grow your organization’s digital platform. But if the wrong image is being displayed, then your organization’s social marketing strategy could be showcasing an incorrect message.
Tracking code
Missing tracking or incorrect tracking code. This is a pet peeve of our creative agency. If your organization does not know how much traffic is coming, and where it is coming from, then we would recommend moving to another creative agency. This is a major problem with most freelance job boards. Since the relationship ends at launch, this is one area that comes back to hurt most organizations. Your organization has no idea of how much traffic is coming to your organization’s digital platform, where it is coming from, and most importantly what is the traffic (visitor) doing when it arrives on your organization’s digital platform. That is like having a brick-and-mortar store with no employees, and wondering why sales are so low or non-existing.
