Want E commerce customers, then do this…
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
As we enjoy the holiday break, many newbies will reach out to discuss how to improve their current business situation. Many times it is just lessons learned from our perspective and situations to avoid from theirs. Recently a growing phenomenal has cheeped into entrepreneur space, set up a shop and collect thousands (even millions) while you sleep. Remember if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is…so we will give you a couple of things, which all success e commerce website have.
Concise Intellectual Architectural
Intellectual Architectural is a fancy way to describe your navigational (menu) system, and more importantly how your website flows. Does it make sense? Make sure you have a couple of folks to check out your site prior to launching. How many clicks does it take to get to your shop page? Does the product description make sense? Is it easy to get to the check out page?
These are some simple questions, but they could be the difference from a vacate shopping cart and a close sale. Your target audience (customer) should have an enjoyable and exciting trip along your shop and services.
Hidden Cost
One of the easiest way to destroy a relationship is to have hidden cost. A story that is told too many times, about the pharmacy chain that always has hidden cost. You can purchase three sodas for $3.00 (which is a great price $1/ each); however, you must purchase at least three to get the deal. If you elect to purchase one soda, then the cost is $1.97. And the additional or hidden cost is on the sales ticket in print less than 8 pixel…and you wonder why folks are constantly leaving merchandise for your staff to return.
While reviewing a site, we notice that if you purchase three items, then you receive free shipping. If you elect to purchase less than three products, then you are stuck with $10 shipping cost per items. Just point out the saving to your prospective client, you can save from $10 – $20 by electing to purchase three or more products. Maybe the saving is worth it to your visitors (customer).
Security and Address Issues
Do you realize that there are still unsecured sites? If this does not alarm you, then just check out my post about a very inexpensive solution. A few weeks ago, we wrote about the plugin Let’s Encrypt. It is a short but good read.
Not sure when it began, but a lot of websites do not have physical address. No physical address, no contact email information, no terms and condition policy, no return policy, and you wonder why you have no sales. While at a e commerce presentation, the number one reason why most traffic (sales) leave is a lack of trust. Want to insure trust issues, then do not provide an address, and important policies.
You can get a UPS or FedEx Mail box, which should have a physical address. As a last option, secure a United State Post Office (USPS) mail box. Remember you are running a business, treat it like a business.
Social Media Presence and Call to Action
Secure you a facebook business page. Create you a twitter page. Design you a instragam page. Establish you a linkedin page. Getting with the modern way, and how to establish sales. Remember these are platforms most of our target audience (customers) are using. Therefore the market has determined that you establish these resources and post on them frequently…unless it is okay for your next sale to go to a competitor.
Call to action (CTA) are huge. Making sure that you create a way for your customers to get to your shop page, clearance page, special products with one click. Showcasing new products, new deals, ways to maximize deals, and offering a forum for your customer to stay engaged. These are just a few things which call to action solutions offer.
Conclusion
Most of our marketing post are about one thing, and this one is no difference. Staying engaged with your prospective customer. Engagement is a two way street. You need to engage with then, and offer a platform for them to engage with you. Increase your engagement, and watch the money roll in…just another way to “Want E commerce customers, then do this…”
