Why do you need to create a Video Testimonial?

In the midst of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign hope everyone is safe, washing their hands frequently, sneezing and coughing on their elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we plan on blogging about making your website more business-friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

One of the latest trends is creating video testimonials for your organization.  This is a feature, which we have been creating for some time with all our clients.  With all trends, some bad or unnecessary elements are being to be displayed.  Let’s discuss the importance of a video testimonial, how to create a video testimonial, and why your organization should create a video testimonial.

Video testimonials are a support element, which provides more evidence of what your organization does and how it is affecting your community.  What are some practical practices when your organization decides to place a video testimonial on your digital presence?

Creative Visual

Video Testimonials allow your organization to be a lot more creative.  Instead of slideshows and text testimonials, your organization can have a video testimonial that should showcase some human emotions.   Whether the video is sad or happy, the testimonial should outline your organization and why it is so important.  Stay away from video testimonials that praise the founder or employees.  The video testimonials should be about the organization, and/or an event that the organization is sponsoring.  The video testimonials should feature how the organization has been very important to the speaker.  Stay away from loud background music or distracting sounds, your organization does not want to have video testimonials during the middle of an event. The best time for a video testimonial is at the end of the event, most of the time, the emotions are raw and very authentic.

Tell a Story

Your video testimonial should tell your story or a story about how your organization has played a major role in the presenter’s life.  It is okay to have a moment of emotion, that’s a good way to connect to your audience.  Remember your video testimonials are attempts to connect with your target audience.  Your video testimonials should not be all sad, or overly joyful.  Try to have video testimonials that stay middle of the row with regard to emotions.  A short video testimonial, which starts off sad, but provides evidence of how your organization turned a sad moment into a happy one is a good example of a video testimonial.

Good Presenters

Do not hire paid actors!!! Use presenters, who have benefited from your organization. Let them explain, how your organization is important to them. What were their lives like before they found your organization, and how your organization has had a positive impact on their lives? Again, it is okay if someone cries for a moment, but does not have a video testimonial full of tears or happiness.  This will feel too scripted.  If you are not going to hire a professional videographer, then place the video camera in a less-than-obvious place.  And ask some basic questions, how has your organization affected them in a personal way?
