I remember the day everything changed

My company had just implemented (mainly because of me) a remote program.  My daily routine was to take my daughter to school.  Come home and check out ESPN for about 30 minutes, and then get my son ready for daycare. Run him down to daycare, stop by my favorite Starbuck’s for Venti White Chocolate Mocha and newspaper and proceed back home to work.

Things will never be the same

I remember September 11, 2001.  I woke up and was preparing for my daily routine.  My wife was working part time as a sales consultant.  We had moved to Atlanta about 18 months ago, and was still living in corporate housing.  Because my position was fluid, I was not ready to move into a house.

I got up and wash my face.  Went into my office, and turned on the television.  I saw the building from the 1st plane, then actually saw the 2nd plane hit the World Trade Center.  Calling in horror to my wife, she drug herself out of bed.  We looked in horror. We had just moved from Pittsburgh about 18 months ago…and then the news announced a plane had landed near Pittsburgh.

Our World will never be the same

My wife and I just held each other.  Our world would never be the same.  From traveling to getting an id, everything would be different.  Different does not mean bad, just different.  The way in which you attend a sporting event is different.  Remember when you could attend a sporting event, and no one was checking your bags or you had to care a clear bag.  Remember when you could get on a plane with regular size toiletry items, not the 4 ounces or less.  Remember when you could bring water bottle through the airport.

Not sure if we are in a safer place, but our world is just a little different.  My prayers go out to anyone, who lost a love one on 9/11.  My prayers go out to anyone, who lost a love one as a result of 9/11.

Take time to remember

In our always rushing society, let’s take some time to remember all our hero’s.  Thank them and hopefully today will be full of mercy and patience.  An always remember September 11.
