“If you want to go to the next level…never, ever stay where you are not valued.”

Dr. Robert J Watkins

The other day, my phone ranged.  It was a prospective client, who was inquiring about my prices.  Not even knowing what the project was about, I advised the prospective client that my design prices begin at $3,000.  Expecting the conversation to end, the prospective client inquired about what would they received for my services.

Design Process

My standard answer was…

Using my six step design process, you will not have to worry about having to redesign your site every six (6) months.

1). Plan – Define the scope of the project, establish project goals (what my client is trying to accomplish with their site), and setting up a action plan.

2). Design – Set up an Intellectual Architectural (navigational and sitemap), establish who will be responsible for content, and set up work flow and time lines.

3). Build – Create a staging site (demo site), and evaluate with my prospective client future site.

4). Test – Check browser compatibility and responsiveness, analyse key words and meta tags, check for broken links, and set up analytic report (number of visitors).

5). Launch – Move demo or staging site to actual URL, encourage share ability, and  register with all the main search engines.

6). Marketing – Set up client reports, establish a KLT (Know, Like, and Trust) Marketing Campaign, and set up quarter review with a wordsmith (to analyse content results).

What you get

The prospective client did not want to hear about my design process.  They wanted to know what would be included…

*Custom Design Website (using Divi)
*Responsive Design
*Browser Compatibility
*Unlimited Web Pages
*Unlimited Dynamic Forms (using Gravity Forms)
*Social Media Package
*Email Capture
*Basic Search Engine Optimization (using YOAST)

Another re-design

“Your prices are high!”.  I could post this project on a job board, or social media page and receive quotes 10 times less. My response was “You are correct and probably have done that in the past.”   Your web designer should have a long term relationship and some skin in the process.  Trying to figure out what is the best content for your call to action feature and using A/B testing (look for my blog on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 to discuss what A/B Testing is), and working on getting your specific audience to Know who you are, Like you, and Trust that your an expert.  That is what I do…
