A few weeks ago while at a DIVI MeetUp, someone mentioned A/B Testing.  Without realizing it, I was the only one in the room to have use this function.  It is a very powerful one, and one in which in my humble opinion separates Divi from other page builders.

In the next several months, I will be discussion buzz words in the web design industry like A/B Testing, Call to Action, Email Captures, and Sales Funnels.  Many web designers kick around these phrase and do not have the slights knowledge about them.  Not an expert myself, however, I have used each of these functions for several clients.

So what is A/B Testing

The internet definition (and a really good one) is “A/B Testing [ split testing ] is when you create two versions of your page and send one version to half of your audience and another version to the other half of your audience to see which variation performs the best.”

My definition is two pages attempting to prove their content is king.  You place both pages on your site, and with a switch when visitor A comes to your site, he will see page one.  When visitor B comes to your site, then she will see page two.  You will measure how long page one entices visitors to stay on your site, purchase products from your site, and/or signs up for special promotions.  And you should have the same data for page two.

Why is this important

Because Brand Marketing is a guessing game!  Did i type that???  As a brand marketer, I am making educated guess that this content will give you what you are asking for…more sales, more followers, more visitors, more readers, etc.  If I can put two pages on the same section and measure, which content ranks higher…then I am an expert.  Probably should have started this paragraph off with that line…All Brand Marketers are experts!!!

What items can you measure with A/B Testing

You can measure font colors, button color, button styles, call to action sections, copy, element placement, discount offers, and layout.  And this is not even half of the list…it is growing on a daily basis.  I have used it for call to actions, button styles, discount offers, and layout elements.  Will my client receive more clicks for content on the left, and images on the right…or vice versa.

In some future blog most, I might define analytics (number of visitors that come to your site), and especially Google Analytics.  You could measure Page views, Per sessions, Time on site, and Bounce rates.
