Fundraiser Numbers are low, now what?

In the midst of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign hope everyone is safe, washing their hands frequently, sneezing and coughing on their elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we plan on blogging about making your website more business-friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

Your fundraiser numbers are not what your organization had planned. Your campaign is close to ending. Your organization is really relying on a successful campaign.  What should your organization do to get new life into your fundraiser efforts? Breathe. Relax. Breathe. Your organization can do these few items and see an AWESOME change in your fundraising campaign.

Campaign Email

Your organization should resend another campaign email. But not just any campaign email, it should be one that showcases a story.  Why is this campaign so important? Who is this campaign going to help? How a small donation can really help someone or something? Send reminder emails to your donor list, your organization does not have a donor list.  Begin to create a donor email list, this is very valuable to your organization and future campaign efforts. If your campaign revolves around an event, send a reminder email about the event.  Ensure the reminder email has all the pertinent information for your upcoming event, such as date, time, location, and the way to donate. Set up thank you for email as donations come into your organization.  Thank you emails should be very personal, use the donor’s first name.

Social Media

Social media is a free booster system for your organization and campaign. Place a post about your fundraiser, and repost it several times. Send some money and set up a paid promotion or marketing of your fundraiser to reach a broader audience.  Invite friends to your campaign. Ask friends to share your fundraiser campaign. Use a unique hashtag. Promote the hashtag. Make your hashtag present on everything that you post. Post and post again. Post with images and short videos. Showcase how your fundraiser is going to help your community.  Tag partners and other companies that will benefit from your campaign.  Update your cover photo to reflect your campaign event. Be very transparent with your campaign and share your results with your community.  Also, displace where the money is going and when is it going to be delivered. Make a short video or take some pictures of what came out of the campaign.

Thank your donor. Keep a list of your donor and thank them on social media. Your organization should not publics the amount of the donation, but your should tag all your donors. Run ads with a list of your donor and create an image of thanks. Make a short video of your organization’s appreciation.  Show a video of individuals, who are going to benefit from your organization’s campaign. Email your donor and provide a personal thank you. Host an appreciation event for your donors and guest. Allow your donor to bring a guest, your appreciation event should be a hybrid event. It should be in person and virtual, and showcase your virtual donors. Send an online gift to your donors, this should occur prior to any appreciation events. It does not have to be an expensive gift, but make sure it is something that is classy and a reminder of your organization or campaign. Coffee mugs, pens, bags, gift cards to the local coffee shops, or a good book are always good gifts.
