Four Tips for finding purpose in your organization

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

Finding purpose is a new way of saying keeping your motivation and energy at a high level for your organization and business interest.  One of the first fears with opening a new business or organization is staying motivated to keep moving your business or organization forward.  So how do you stay motivated?  Four tips would include:  making a list of everything you are passionate about, finding ways to devote your time to that purpose, connecting with like-minded people, and keeping your mind open to a new interest.

Make a list of everything you are passionate about

When you are creating a new business or organization, one of the first things you need to have is a to-do list of everything that you are passionate about your business or organization.  Your business or organization’s mission statement should be present.  It is something that you should read every morning and every evening.  It should be the driving force for why you started your business or organization.

Find ways to devote your time to that purpose

Take a moment to review your purpose or reason for starting your business or organization.  Locate a business mentor, someone in the same industry, and set up times to share information.  It does not have to be formal, set up a monthly coffee break or quick lunch date.  Have a list of important questions to bounce off your mentor, but do not let all the meetings be a question and answered session.  Make sure you allow your mentor to ask you a question or two.  Allow some of your meetings to center around non-business issues.

Connect with like-minded people

Join Facebook or LinkedIn group that shares your interest. Meetup is another great resource. It really does not matter which social media platform you join, just join one that shares your purpose or passions.  Remember, like-minded people, do not mind sharing information.  They are trying to develop better workflows and gain more revenue.  Just be open to helping and learning from your community.  Because connecting with like-minded people is about establishing your community.

Keep your mind open to new interest

Keep your mind open to new interests. There is an old saying, “You can skin a cat in many different ways”.  Be open to learning new interests and ways to grow your business and organization.  It is all about growing and sustaining your business and organization.
