Are you really listening?
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
When we create a non profit organization’s website, we focus on 5 specific items. What is your organization’s strengths? What is your organization’s weakness? Why would someone visit your site? What are your expectation? What makes your organization different?
Most clients love to discuss their organization’s strengths. What is the reason for their existence? Who are they trying to assist or help? Sometimes their mission and goal statement will be a clear outline of the organizations strengths. We have found that most organization love to discuss their strengths
Weakness does not mean a flaw in your organization. Weakness could be how long the organization has been in business. How long has the organization had a digital presence? Does the organization have a social media platform? Has a branding platform been established? We make sure to ask these questions, but not to state them as weakness of the organization foundation or structure.
Reason to visit
Just like we review, why you would visit Walmart against Costco? Some like that Walmart does not charge you a membership, others like the deals offer by Walmart. These are human traits, which need to be measured. We measure human behavior, which is called analytics. This is not a one month process. It is a marathon and not a sprint. Sometimes, we use call to action techniques. Sometimes we A/B Testing to measure behavior.
Expectation always need to be temper. Everyone wants to have the world. Everyone would like to get more than expected. We work hard to under promise and over exceed. But you need to make sure that the expectation are clear and not something that come out after the launch.
What makes your organization different? Generally, your organization’s mission and goals are the items, which makes your organization different. It is the web designer’s role, to make sure that those positives are illustrated.
