Three ways to contribute to WordPress

In the midst of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign hope everyone is safe, washing their hands frequently, sneezing and coughing on their elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we plan on blogging about making your website more business-friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

We strongly believe in giving back to our community.  WordPress is our community. Three ways in which we give back on a daily basis are Blogging about WordPress, WordPress Meet Ups, and WordCamp.

Blogging

We blog daily.  Most of our post center around WordPress.  WordPress plugins (we have posted about Gravity Forms and Yoast SEO are usually posted on Fridays.  Sometimes we post about the latest trends and how to improve your WordPress website.  Trying to provide information about how to grow your brand using WordPress. How to improve your WordPress website.  We have even posted about business experiences.

Meet Ups

Meet Ups are very important to us.  We attend about twelve to fifteen Meet Ups in the Atlanta Area.  Our founder, Daniel Swain has presented several times.  Whether providing an Agencies side to Gutenberg, how to secure your 2nd Client, or Divi Leads (A/B Testing), Daniel loves to share with the WordPress Community.

Attending Meet Ups is more than sharing your knowledge.  It really is a mini-networking event.  Allowing your community to know, who you are?  And getting to know your community, especially finding specialists.  We have been able to locate social media experts, content writers (wordsmiths), search engine optimization experts, and graphic designers.  Networking has led to several projects and a few partnerships.

WordCamps

Having attended many WordCamps, we try to be familiar faces.  This year alone, we will have attended WordCamp Atlanta, WordCamp Birmingham, WordCamp Asheville, WordCamp Pittsburgh, WordCamp Orlando, and WordCamp US.  Our Founder, Daniel Swain has had the pleasure of speaking at WordCamp Atlanta, WordCamp Asheville, and WordCamp Pittsburgh.  Daniel volunteers at WordCamp Atlanta, WordCamp Birmingham, WordCamp Asheville, WordCamp Orlando, and WordCamp US.  Finally, Daniel is on the WordCamp Atlanta Organizer Team, specifically the volunteer team.

WordCamps are AWESOME!!!  Check out our review from  WordCamp Atlanta 2018 a small glimpse into how important WordCamps are to our Founder.  We are committed to WordCamp.

Others

A lot of the support is free.  If someone has taken something off your plate, then feel free to send that designer or developer a few dollars.  This support goes a long way.  Typically we spend a few hours in the WordPress Repositories Support Forum.  Just trying to provide some helpful information to our community.

If you have a favorite plugin or theme, which is free, then send the developer a few nickels.  Trust us, they will truly appreciate it.  Remember you would have spent a lot more, having a developer or designer figure out a solution.

If you do not have Meet-Up in your community, then start one.  The narrative does not change, when we heard the story of how a Meet Up began…it started with one or two.  And eventually grew into a hugely supportive community…and most into a WordCamp Weekend.
