A few months ago, I was given the honor to speak at WordCamp Asheville.  I had spoken (presented) at WordCamp Atlanta, so I did not feel like it was going to be a huge deal.  Having worked several weeks on my speech, I was prepared.   This was my second time at WordCamp Asheville.  The organizer for WordCamp Asheville are AWESOME!!!  Then…

Obstacles

I hurt my back several weeks before WordCamp Asheville.  It is my sciatic nerve, a really painful injury.  I was under chiropractic treatment.  Under strict orders, my doctor told me not to do much of anything.  My family came with me to help make my weekend a success.  My wife would serve as my driver and assistant.  My kids would plan out the weekend.

Nerves

Having spoken at Corporate Events in the past, I have a natural conversational style.  Nerves usually greet me prior to my introduction, but they never linger on long.  Admittedly so, I was nervous.  As I watched the video, I began to critic my presentation.

Thankful

It would have been very easy to back out!  I am sure the folks at WordCamp Asheville would have been upset, but understanding with my health concerns.   However, my commitment to continue to help the WordPress Community would have suffer.  I am so thankful to the WordCamp Asheville Organizers, my family, and the many questions that were asked after my presentation.  Check out the video (link is below) and feel free to give me a few thumbs up…
