What would I do if someone gave me $100k for my business?
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
I created this blog post several years ago. And as faith would have it, I agree with everything listed. I would not splurge a small amount of money on lavish gifts or items. I would be very intentional with my money. There is a saying that a fool and his money will soon part, hopefully, if you receive a blessing that you will not become a fool. I have decided not to change the original post, but it was created several years ago.
A couple weeks ago at a Mastermind MeetUp, I participated in an exercise involving the question…What would I do if someone gave me $100,000 for my business? The rules were simple, the money had to be spent on your business. No vacations with the family. New house. Luxury automobile. Finer clothes and jewelry.
Most of the answers were typical, most wanted to purchase new equipment, hire staff, secure larger office space, create huge marketing campaign, etc. My answers were simple…re-invest in my business most important commodity, me.
Search Engine Optimization Training
During the past couple of years, I have invested in learning more and more about Search Engine Optimization. Really believe that by learning more about SEO, more value can be added to my clients. This could be a win-win situation for my company and my clients. Having done some research on potential SEO conferences, I would love to attend the next DIY SEO Course with Rebecca Gill.
Having heard Rebecca speak, her grasp of SEO techniques and tools would be well worth the investment. Feeling like after some training, I would be able to take my client’s sites to the next level. Take my site to the next level.
WP Elevation
A few years ago, I got a chance to meet Troy Dean. He was the keynote speaker at WordCamp Atlanta 2017, I was on the organizer team, so Troy and I had a chance to discuss business. Impressive beyond. The ability to improve my work flow process, holding me accountable for becoming more successful, and taking business trips to exotic places to focus on how to improve my business.
Joining WP Elevation would be at the top of my list.
WordCamp Europe
I would attend. No doubt, you would see me in Berlin Germany for a couple of weeks in June 2019. I would be in attendance for WordCamp Europe. Getting a chance to discuss WordPress with others from different parts of the word, having a chance to see if my fellow WordPress Aficionado are experience the same issues with running a business, enjoying another culture while learning how to make my business better.
Equipment, Memberships, and Saving
While updating my lab top computer, desk top computer, paying off my memberships (which currently I have 7) for the year, and putting over 50% of the money in my saving would be how I would use the money. While my answers were boring, they reflected me reinvesting in my most prized commodity, myself.
