What are some of the best practices for Email Marketing Campaigns?
We recommend using email marketing campaigns for several reasons, it is an easy way to grow your organization’s influence and it is reality inexpensive compared to other marketing strategies. In most cases, your organization’s digital platform will need an email capture form and content. There are many email captures including MailChimp, Constant Contact, and (our favorite) MailPoet. So what are some of the best practices for email marketing campaigns?
Content
Your organization has to create engaging and personalized content. Content is KING!!! Using the following in the subject line is key, a limited-time offer or save 75% Today Only. These are eye-opening subject titles and maybe think about placing your organization’s potential customers’ names in the subject line. Your organization’s emails should be personalized and engaging. We recommend using a short story with a call to action button. Your organization should have a specific goal to increase sales, interest in an upcoming event, information about new services, etc. The call to action button should redirect your organization’s potential customer to a specific page and your organization should be measuring the engagements.
Email Deliverability
Your organization’s email capture system should ensure email deliverability and avoid spam filters. One of the biggest reasons for a failed email marketing strategy is the emails are forwarded to your organization’s potential customers’ spam folder. They are not read.
We recommend using an email SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol). According to Wikipedia, a SMPT is an Internet standard communication protocol for electronic mail transmission. Mail servers and other message transfer agents use SMTP to send and receive mail messages. User-level email clients typically use SMTP only for sending messages to a mail server for relaying and typically submit outgoing emails to the mail server on port 587 or 465 per RFC 8314. For retrieving messages, IMAP (which replaced the older POP3) is standard, but proprietary servers also often implement proprietary protocols.
Segment
Your organization needs to segment your email list. Your organization’s digital platform could have a couple of email captures, and depending on where your organization captures the email, should coincide with a segment. Also, your organization can send a second form to your email list to find out which list should they be placed on. This is important because some emails might not make sense to your organization’s email list. Your organization would not want to provide a discount to someone, who has already made a purchase on your organization’s digital platform.
Email Regulations
Your organization should comply with email marketing regulations and laws. We are not attorneys, but these are the general practices that we recommend. Your organization should have double opt-in, which means an email is sent to confirm that they want to receive emails from your organization and your organization should provide an unsubscribe link on all emails. Lastly, all your organization’s emails should include an email, phone, and mailing address to your organization.
