Web Design Marketing

 

In the midst of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign hope everyone is safe, washing their hands frequently, sneezing and coughing on their elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we plan on blogging about making your website more business-friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

As a web designer, I am always looking to improve website marketing. It always puzzles me, when I talk to other website designers/developers who do not market themselves or their services.  You can find me tweak the most popular article. Last week,  I was enjoying a fresh cup of coffee at one of my favorite watering holes.  My phone ranged.  It was a small business owner.  He was having some Search Engine Optimization (SEO) issues.  He had installed Yoast SEO, per my recommendation. He had about ten (10) products and all of them had “red” or poor ratings.  He needed my help but did not want to pay for my support.  I began talking about meta tags, image alternate tags, keywords, and content.  I could hear him writing notes as fast as I was talking.

I advised him about my favorite support company, WP Suppetiae could take care of his SEO Issues.  He asked about the cost, and I advised the services range from $150 / per month and up.  It would include SEO, Google Analytics, Virtual Assistant (to manage his store), and web design marketing.

He was very interested in the marketing plan.  I advised him that we use the KLT Marketing Plan.  Its focuses on getting potential clients to KNOW his company, LIKE his company, and TRUST his company. I could tell that the note-taking stop, he asked me what were his major issues for limited sales.  I advised, without looking at his business plan/model, it would be difficult to determine.

However, from our brief conversation, I advised him that he was treating his business like a brick-and-mortar company in the 1980s.  He was advising his site on Facebook to all his friends.  He was tweeting sales on his Twitter account.  He had paid for some local advertisement, but nothing expensive.  He asked me about my support company, and what would we do differently.

I advised him that we would start a KLT Marketing Plan.  The goal would be to introduce his store to a wider audience. Next, we would work on his site’s SEO.  We would register his site to all the major search engines.  We would recommend an email capture and publishing a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter.  Introducing new products, services, specials…it would be interactive.  He said “you are good!  I need your services.”
