Ways to get your work notice

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

As free lance web designer, the ever present need to get our work out.  What have you done lately? How can I get noticed? Look at my design, and / or development skills.  From my experience, several good platforms or techniques might help to solve this issue for you.

*Social Media

While there are countless reasons why, we do not promote our work on social media platforms.  None of these reasons make sense, at least business cents.  First of all, all the social media platforms (which you want to promote your work on) are free.  Create you a facebook business page.  Invite your friends, fellow free lancer, and potential business clients to your business page.  Post on a regular basis. Create a twitter page.  Follow influencer and re-tweak (post) their work.  Post your work.  Post your journey.  Create a instragram page.  Put your work on your page.  When someone post on your pictures, provide them with a follow up comment (hopefully it is a positive one…).  If you have a lot of followers, then pick ones which someone has put in some thought.  Create a Linkedin page.  Put your work on your page. Invite industry giants to your page (be care, because linkedin does not like spammers…so invite someone you know or send them a message about why they should accept you invite).

*Mail List

Create a email list.  Provide something as an incentive for signing up.  Create a email book. Start a blog.  Blog about your projects. No project is alike. Discuss the pros and cons of your project.  How you was able to overcome a difficult situation. You will be surprise, someone is going to a similar situation.  Your blog could hold the key to their success.

Mailing list also create credibility.  You want to establish yourself as a  expert.  What a free way to build up your expertise, by blogging and having an email list of folks looking to learn from you.  Create a sales funnel.  Showcase your work to potential clients.

*Comments on blogs

Showing gratitude toward fellow designers and developers is huge.  You will be surprise at the number of folks that read the comments. Some have the same problem or issue and look for an answer.  Having commented on blogs post that are good fixes and providing examples of where the fixed was used has help gain me traction.  You will get someone to review your work, without asking them to check out your work.

Most bloggers love comments. Positive or negative comments…
