Ways To Drive More Traffic To Your Web Site

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

How do I get more traffic to my web site?  Most blogger and site owners ask (or should ask) that question on a daily basis.  There are countless techniques to drive more traffic to your web site.  We are going to concentrate on 5 techniques… Optimize your web page, Content (should be engaging), Images, Links, and size of blog.

Optimization

Optimization of your web pages (not site) is more than just adding a search engine tool, such as Yoast, All in One SEO, and The SEO Framework.  You will need to add meta tags, descriptions, and keywords. Optimization is a strategy.  Planning is required to make sure you are hitting your target audience.

Just adding a search engine optimization tool is not enough.  Knowing how to get the most out of your tool is the best advice anyone can provide.

Content

Content should be engaging.  Content should be your witness to your expert level.  It should make your target audience want to come back for more.  It should be consistent.  Imagine if your content was food for the soul, you could not provide it sacredly.

Spend time on the “how” element of your content.  How your content is relevant to your target audience and make sure your content is important.  Stop writing content just to write content, have a purpose (which should be to showcase your expertise and provide great information to your target audience).  Think about what are the most important issues for your target audience.  What are some issues, which you struggle with on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis…write about those issues, and solutions.

Images

Aesthetics are important.  Images in your content are important.  Alternate tags are important.  Content should not be boring, and images are excellent ways to add life to your content.  Pictures tell a million stories, so why would you not allow a couple of images to tell your story. Stop using from social media platforms, which are huge or small.  Invest in your images, pay for stock image or a photographer.  Make sure the images are connecting with the content you are describing.

Links

If you are referring to something, then add the link.  Visitors want to check out your sources.  Many, who check analytics, will refer business back to you.  Google likes when you have links, especially appropriate links.  Linking is okay.  Routinely check to make sure you have no broken links.  Google does not like sites with broken links, visitors do not like sites with broken links.  Broken links are links to nothing.

Blog

Blogging is a good way to drive traffic.  Blog post should be engaging, as mentioned in the content section.  The size of your blog post does matter.  Stop trying to write just 300 words.  Your blog post should be over 500 words.  1000 words.  3000 words.  If it is engaging, then your visitors will read your post.
