What is a donor impact report? Donor impact reports are a marketing strategy, which places your donor at the top of the relationship. This strategy builds trust between your donor and your organization and is based on accountability. So how does your organization create a donor impact report? It is very similar to any other donation campaign with one exception, your organization will treat all donors as stockholders and provide timely reports to your donors.
Benefits of Donor Impact Report
One of the benefits is the donation campaign is donor-centric and not organization-centric. Your organization story should be about how the donor is helping your vision. Your organization’s story should be told in a manner in which the Donor’s contribution is the most important element. Your organization’s story should showcase the donor’s contributions’ impact. Your organization should provide transparency and outline all donations and expenses. Most donor impact reports attract new and engaging donors because they know exactly where their donations are going.
Elements of Donor Impact Report
It is very similar to any campaign, with one exception your organization needs to let the prospective donor know that they will be getting timely reports. Your organization can create a landing page, mobile application, or social media post with a call to action button to onboard potential donors. Make sure that your mission, future plan, vision, and story are very specific and detail-oriented. A short video would be an outstanding element on your landing page. Remember all asking for volunteers and benefactors to the campaign is fine, make sure you create video testimonials of how impact the donor’s contributions.
Phases of Donor Impact Report
After creating your landing page, your donor impact report should have an appreciation email. This appreciation email should be sent immediately to your donor. It should restate that a timely report will be sent, and what will be included in the report. The timely report should include financial information about the campaign. How much has been raised? What are the goals of the campaign? What is the timeframe of the campaign? How many donors are on board? The timely report should explain in detail, how much a single donation means to the campaign. For example, $10 is the cost of a single title for the flooring. $100 will cover the cost of one row of titles. The timely report should have visual elements, such as infographics, images, videos, and graphics or charts. Make sure you make it very easy for a donor to contribute more than once, a call to action button which redirects to a payment gateway. Finally, your organization should have a thank you celebration. Have a virtual, hybrid, or in-person celebration. Make sure to thank everyone, volunteers, benefactors, and donors.
