Using “Different” Marketing Techniques

In the midst of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing their hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in their elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business-friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

Different usually means not the same. What an awesome type of marketing technique for Non-Profit or Faith-Based Organizations.  Not being the same as your competitors.  So how can you not be the same as your competitors?  You could define your success, or create your own rules, or get used to being judged by your competitors, or find your own tribe [community].

Define Your Success

What is success?  Does success equal money collect?  Does success mean a number of flocks or members? Does success equal name recognization?  What is your definition of SUCCESS?  In short, it could mean all or none of these.  It really depends on what you define as success.  That’s the uniqueness of being different.  You get to write the rules, which we will discuss next.

We look at success as if are we making a difference to our clients.  Do they have a better product after meeting and partnering with us?  Are they able to see how important and how their digital presence can assist with goals and aspirations?  Did we make them different?

Create Your Own Rules

You should create your own rules. If you have a remote organization and you request every one on a zoom call every Friday, then go ahead with your Friday zoom calls. If you are in a brick-and-mortar building and would like to have an ice cream every Thursday, then you should feel free to have your ICE CREAM THURSDAY.  If an employee’s morale is important to you, then look for ways to keep morale up at all times. Bad and Good.  You create your own rules.

Maybe you clean out an unused room and add books for employees to read.  Go for it!!! Maybe having gym memberships is important to you, then provide this to your employees.  Create your own rules.

Get Used to Being Judged

Get used to being judged.  In some cases, you might be judged by the same individuals that the benefit was intended. Imagine you create a free membership gym to encourage a healthy lifestyle and some employees complaint, that they are not a “Healthy Nut”.  Get used to it, just the cost of being different.  Interest thing about being different, most of us want to work for a different and growing organization.  Who wants to work for a boring 8-to-5 organization? No one.

Find Your Own Tribe

The funny thing about trying to be different, most organizations are different.  Find your tribe [community] and bounce ideas off one or another.  Find more ways to be different as you grow your organization.
