Staying focus is really important for Non Profit Organizations!!!

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

What is all involved in your focus?  Being productive (working and not procrastinating) is one elements.  Keeping financially stable (making sure you have enough money to pay your bills, and partners). Making sure your balance (faith + family + work + self …notice my order, staying rooted in my faith, making sure you have time for my family, keeping myself busy with work, and finally making sure to commit time for yourself).

Productive

It is super important to stay productive.  Productivity can come from working on a current project.  Or it could be securing a new project.  Lastly it could be making sure you stay up on the new trends in your industry.  One of the easiest ways to  hurt your focus, is to allow unproductive days to creep into your daily/weekly routine.

“It is okay to say ‘NO’ “.   On one of my walls, I have a plaque with this quote.  Initial it was place on my wall, to help me to understand it is okay to turn down projects which do not inline with my mission and values.  It is very easy to be productive, when you are working with and for clients which you like.  Going the extra mile, become easy for organizations, which share your values and goals.  Many of my first clients, were faith based organization…seeing how they help everyday folks, made it easy to work hard for them.

Financially

Making sure business and personal money is not in the same hat (or bank), is tremendously important.  Set guidelines, about when you are going to deposit money into your personal account.  Set up a saving account for your personal account.  Set up a money market account for your business account.  I enjoying keeping my funds in two separate financial institutions.

Use the 52 envelops to assist with saving, there is 52 weeks in a year.  Each week, place from $1 – $52 in an envelop.  At the conclusion of the year, you will have saved $1,378.00.  You could take that money and pay for a vacation, holiday spending spree…or just keep it for a rainy day.  The interesting thing about telling a non saver about the 52 envelops, is how are you going to be discipline to do it on a weekly basis (when you get pay bi-weekly…just grab two envelops) or that’s no money.  Again folks, who do not save, complaining about you staying focus.

Balance

Balance is really important.  My balance points are not yours.  Maybe your balance is between work and money. Maybe your balance is between work and fun.  Maybe your balance is between work and family.  It really does not matter, what your elements are…but you have to balance work off of something.

This balance will allow you to seek happiness in work, in life, in money…in whatever is important to you.
