How to Stay Focus at Work?
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
How to stay focus at work? This is becoming the new norm, because work like everything else has changed for many of us. No longer are you driving to the office, sitting through morning meetings, or having water cooler chats. Most areas are under stay at home or less than 10 people can gather…work is using remote technology to function. So how can you stay focus during these unusual times.
Having a supportive work environment is key to staying focus. Writing daily, weekly and monthly goals down. Holding yourself accountable to exceeding your daily, weekly and monthly goals. Keeping a clean office. Making sure everything is easy to find. Spending time to organize your office and office space.
Establishing start and end times. Keeping your schedule as consist with your prior work life. If you got up at 7:00am, then headed to the train station to go to work. Get up at 7:00am, take a shower, get dress and maybe get a little mediation in. Keep your routine. Schedule breaks. Take a break every three hours. Leave your work environment, go to another room. Watch some television, walk around your block, grab a snack. If you lose focus, then make sure to set your watch’s alarm to 10 or 15 minutes. Once the alarm rings, then it is back to your work environment. Keep your lunch time…do not eat at your desk, but leave and head to your dining area. If possible, go to your back yard and enjoy a few minutes to relax.
You need to place a goals and objective system in place. If you solve all your daily, weekly and monthly goals, then give yourself a reward. Rewards can be a new audio book, gift card, lunch from your favorite restaurant (if they are open and deliver). Get really creative with your reward system. Do not punish yourself for missing goals? Remember you want to encourage a staying focus at work attitude.
You are not in this alone. Set up zoom meetings, slack channel, or text fellow colleagues and/or friends. Remember you are not in this alone. Set up a Facebook Group, or any social media group and encourage like minds to join. Find a hobby. Work on your hobby during break or lunch time. Work on improving your skill set, if possible. Check on your neighbors, friends, and love ones.
