Can you find some time to just relaxing?

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

Relaxing is not a term used to describe a free lance or agency owner.  Somewhere during the entrepreneur process, the ideal of taking some down town is viewed as a bad  or unwise thing to do.  A few months ago, I was working on  three (3) projects.  I usually will not work on more than two.  Dealing with a stress level through the roof is not ideal for my creative being.

Working with my developer on one project, as the client wanted to extend some features of a plugin (which I will not name).  We had to hire a developer to make sure the functionality was possible.  This was a referral project, so I want to make sure their expectations are exceeded.

The second project, entailing educating a client about e commerce.  Being approach with an ecommerce project, we had to deal with shipping and handling, tax questions, and payment gateway.  My client was wanting to launch without doing a lot of due diligence. Knowing these issues had to be answered prior to beginning the project, we had to educate the client.  If these issues were not address in the discovery stages, then the project would come to a standstill.  These questions are needed to eliminate any future headache.

My third project involved new maintenance agreement, which the client had close to twenty (20) plugins.  The site had 16 plugins, which needed to be updated.  About ten (10) of the plugins are not being used, so I have scheduled a meeting to delete some of the plugins with the client.

Relaxing is needed

Being worn out, I schedule some me time for myself.  Shoring up my completion dates on all three projects and not taking on any new ones.  Working to make sure after each project was complete, that I would spend some time reading a good book, maybe taking a short vacation, and possible hitting some golf balls.  My agenda was set.

Golf was the winner.  Needing some time to relax, and my favorite hobby is golf.  Setting up a tee time.  I am looking forward to some rest and relaxation, while attempting to keep my score under 90.  While I have not play in a couple of years, I am hoping to  practiced a couple times before my tee time.  I love to practice.  Getting the bunker game is tight.  Making sure my driver is very consistent.  Working on my strongest element, which is my approach game.  Realizing that my putting is still a work in process (the older I get, the worse it becomes…lol).

The bottom line is I needed to make time to get out of the office, and away from projects.  This helps to keep my stress level in check, which does help to improve my work flow and projects.
