In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
Last week a very popular financial strategy 50/30/20 was discussed. While most would agree that 50/30/20 is a good financial strategy and most of us should use it. How do you get to 50/30/20? This is not something that can just happen, for most of us. If you do not know what 50/30/20 is, then check out my blog post on 50/30/20.
How to get toward some financial freedoms? It takes one huge thing. Sacrifices. Block out all the outside noise and itemize needs and wants. Once you have your expenses (both personal and professional) itemizes, then you need to identify which are a want and which are a need.
Pain
Once you have identify all your needs, and remember your needs should be no more than 50% of your income. Pay all your needs. If your needs are more than 50%, then you will need to do some adjusting of your lifestyle or figure out how to make some more money. In most case, you will need to adjust what is a need. Maybe you will need to turn off your internet or lower it down to another plan. Maybe you will need to eliminate your cable or streaming services.
For some this is a painful experience, but it is a necessary one. Getting a grip of your finances really can go a long way in your happiness.
Time
In most case, getting your finances together can take a couple of months. Once you have identified your wants and needs. Try to put away 20% toward savings. Be discipline to not dip into your savings, unless it is a necessary need. Something that will effect one of your needs. Your hot water heater is broken. Auto repairs. Your saving is not to help you get a new outfit, or go to the movies. Be discipline.
Conclusion
Getting your finances in order is not a fun process, but it is a necessary one. You will thank yourself.
