In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
One of my favorite WordPress Plugin is ManageWP, which is a website management dashboard plugin. ManageWP focus on 5 areas. Maintain, Security, Monitor, Collaborate, and Client Care. Let take a look at the six areas and how one plugin can help you in all these important elements.
Maintain
The feature allows you to one click log into the dashboard of your website. Forget your log in credentials, no big deal. Log into your ManageWP account, pull up your website and click on wp-admin button. A separate tab will be pulled up and you will be re-directed into your site dashboard.
Bulk updates. Most of us use the same themes or plugins. That plugin has an update. In the past, you would have to go into all the dashboard of all your sites to update the theme or plugin. ManageWP allows you to do a bulk update across all your websites.
Security
One of the most important features for your website, is to make sure it is safe. ManageWP has two back up options (free one and premium). Back up on a cloud. Ability to clone and migrate (premium). Most hosting backups are limited (30 days) or exist on the same server, which in most cases does you no good, especially if your site has been hacked. Back up on a cloud, is a great option.
Vulnerability checks. You will receive an email if your site has any vulnerabilities. ManageWP will display the plugin or theme which is causing the issue. In most case, you might need to update the plugin or theme. They also offer safe update (which we will discuss later).
Monitor
Up time monitor. See when your site is down. When it is back up. You will receive an email about your up time. If your hosting company has any issue, then you will be advised immediately. Reduce/eliminate the emails about “is something wrong with your website?” Did we mention back up and clone? Imagine if your site does go down then you could set up a forwarding url, clone the prior day back up and move the clone site to the temporary url…All this from one plugin!!!
Google Analytics. Check out your numbers, without having to pull up google. One stop shop. Search engine optimized report exist, in which you can measure keywords and competitors sites.
Collaborate
ManageWP can establish username and password for individual sites. You can have team members review on the site, that you want them to see. Client can view only their website. One click switch between accounts.
Client care
Client reports on all the above. White label (premium) is available. Client reports include up time monitor, google analytic, vulnerability issues, and page load speed performance numbers.
A quick look at feature and services (some of the important ones)
Back up (free and premium). Free is monthly back up, off site storage, one click restore, and email notification if site is down. Premium offers daily and weekly back up, off site storage, one click restore, migration, clone services, safe updates, with a host of other features. Premium is $2.00 a month per site.
Up time monitor (premium). This feature will email you every time your site is down, and up. Most of the emails come within a few minutes, but if you do not receive your site is up. Then you know it is a major problem. Premium is $1.00 a month per site.
Succuri Security Checks (free and premium). Free version allows scan of your website for any malware, and if your website is blacklisted. Premium provides 24/7 observation, scan of your website for any malware, check if your website is blacklisted and will forward you notification email. Premium is $1.00 a month per site.
Performance report (free and premium). Free version allows you to manual check on the performance of your site. Premium provides email notification anytime your website began under performing. Premium is $1.00 a month per site.
