Making the leap
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
Making the leap from a hobbyist to a professional, one of the most important elements of the lifestyle of a web designer. I have been own my agency for the last ten (10) years, and made the leap from hobbyist to professional web designer.
One of the first things that I did in my evolution was to create a business plan and incorporate my company. I created a business plan with the assistant of my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and had my attorney created my paperwork for my limited liability company (LLC). My CPA filed my paperwork (LLC) with the federal, state and local government agencies.
The journey was just beginning
Next, I created a plan of action (POA). How was I going to get clients? Was I going to be a commodity designer? A commodity designer is one, who seeks jobs from social media platforms or job boards. Was I going to be a niche designer? Niche designer is one, who only works on certain types of projects. Was I going to be a commodity and niche designer?
I do both, so I am still trying to decide
What would be my niche? I love developing a brand. I love helping direct traffic to my client’s website. I love creating campaign to get visitors to Know my client. I love creating campaign to get visitors to Like my client. I love creating campaigns to get visitors to Trust my clients. KLT (Know, Like, and Trust) Marketing model is my most effective campaign strategy.
I have made the leap
I have made the leap of faith, and I have saw many failures during the past ten (10) years. I have had some successful stories. I am looking forward to creating a lot more successful stories. I love this journey called business and taking a leap is just a small element of this journey.
