Three Reasons why your faith based organization needs a maintenance plan?
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
A few years ago, I purchased a relevantly new vehicle for my wife. It was a couple years old, and the sales representative was pushing for us to take out the bumper to bumper warrant. My wife did not want to pay the additional couple of thousands for the warrant. Really she did not want us to finance the warrant. I decided to take out the warrant, but instead of putting down a huge down payment. I put down a smaller one, and paid for the warrant separately. The sales representative was not too happy about that, but I did not care. A few months into ownership, my wife’s car check engine light came on. It was a couple thousands to fix the issue, and she was put in a rental car for a couple of weeks. The warrant was a good ideal. This story is not new to many of us. By the way, the auto was not a lemon. We have not had any issues with it since then.
Peace of mind
Do you want to be responsible for updating wordpress core, wordpress plugins, and wordpress themes? What about security issues? How about scheduling back ups? Figuring out what is a reliable hosting platform. Keeping your content updated. Making sure your forms are spam proof. Reading up on recent security issues, and what is the fixes. Making sure your site is working correctly. Issues with your e commerce section.
So instead of you marketing and making sure you business is running correctly, you are going to put on your web designer and / or developer hat. Web designer and web developer is a full time position. Do you have 40 hours a week, to focus on just your website. Why would you waste your resource (time) and money? Just pay the expertises.

A couple years ago, I had a client’s site got hacked. They chose to not take out a maintenance plan. A couple months later their site was redirecting to a porn site. It had been hacked. They opted for shared hosting to save a few dollars. Now they wanted to know if we could help. Clean the server, move the site, working on the search engine optimization, and re directs, we estimated over 60 hours worth of work. And this did not include cleaning up the site, after receive an invoice for several thousand dollars. The client now has a maintenance plan, with reliable hosting and back ups.
