Is Blogging really Important?
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
Is blogging really important? It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your website. Most of our clients websites are vehicles to for more exposure or to drive sales. In both of those cases, then blogging can be an important part of your business strategy. The major drawback with blogging is frequency and length. One of the biggest ways to make your website appear to be a dead site (one in which visitors can not tell it you exist or not) is to have a blog post, which is dated a year or longer ago. If this is your website, then take down your blogging page.
What is the ideal length?
While your blog post should focus on other factors, such as topics which resonate with your target audience, and what’s important to your industry? Most professional bloggers like blog post to be around the 1000 – 2500 words. Most of our blog post are around 500 – 1000 words. While our blog post are short, our competitors and industry trends toward shorter blog post. Some bloggers have email us, and informed us that SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) and (our preferred Search Engine Optimization Plugin) Yoast like most blog post to be 3000 + words. We like to look at our blogging strategy, which we will explain later.
Is Blogging necessary?
Yes! Blogging is necessary. Blogging establishes your expertise in your industry. Blogging is hard. Blogging tells your visitors, that you are knowledgeable about industry trends. Blogging is an easy way to connect with your target audience. Check out our post about Faith Based Organization Blogging. It is one of our most popular blogging post. Your blogging post, should be apart of a strategy. Do not blog, just to blog.
Blogging strategy
Our blogging strategy is to get visitors (our target audience) to sign up on our call to action section (below this post). This is a lead generator. We are able to give our target audience a little more detail about existing projects and how they are able to meet digital goals and objectives. We can discuss industry trends in the faith based and non profit organization. Our blogging strategy focuses analytics. Analytics is the instrument, that provides us with which post are being read, and how frequent are they being read.
Is blogging important?
If you want your digital platform to work for your organization, then yes blogging is important. Note blogging content and frequency is more important than length, which is the number 1 reason for not blogging. Your blog section needs to have relevant content, which resonates with your target audiences. It is your sales pitch to a potential partner.
