How to increase Traffic to your site?

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

One of the questions, we get when taking on a new project is traffic issues.  Usually a lack of traffic to a prospective client’s website, which is incredible true with most StartUp websites.  There are 8 techniques to improve traffic to your site.

  • Create a blog?
  • Make the blog Search Engine Optimization (SEO) friendly.
  • Blog on a regular basis.
  • Embrace Social Media Platforms.
  • Interact with your Readers.
  • Add newsletter subscription form.
  • Analyse Blog performance.
  • Finally Promote your Blog.

Create a blog

This is very simple, yet so difficult for most website owners.  Create a blog.  But do not just start blogging.  Think about what makes you or your organization different.  Tap into your knowledge base. Create a tree map, with many branches (categories) and plan out blog posting.  Shoot to have blog post with over 500 words (if you reach 2000 words, then that is okay). Stay away from less than 300 word blogs.

Make the Blog SEO friendly

Do not try to be cute, by using click bait titles.  “How to get rich within 30 days?” “How to lose 100 pounds in a week?”  “How to improve your credit by 300 points within a couple of weeks?”  Try not to have blog post about losing weight, and your organization is a financial organization.  Your blog should be consistent with your site.

Make sure your blog post has effective Meta Title and Descriptions.  Create tags and categories which are related to your tree map.  And finally, utilize internal links in your blog post.

Blog on a regular basis

Blog on a regular basis.  Whether you blog on a daily, weekly, or bi weekly basis. Make sure you blog.  Failure to blog on a consistent basis, will lead visitors to believe your site is a dead site.  Easiest way to lose traffic is to give visitors the feeling that your site is a dead site.

My recommendation is to blog a couple times a week.  Ideally blogging daily, but unless you have a content writer…daily blogging can be difficult.

Embrace Social Media Platforms

Embrace social media platforms.  Link your blog posting to your social media platforms.  Or cut and past your blog post to your business facebook page, twitter account, linkedin account.  Add images from your blog posting to your instagram page.  Grow your influence organically.

Easily way to showcase your expertise is on social media.

Interact with your Readers

Interact with your readers.  Ask your readers for input. Create surveys and have your readers to complete the surveys.  Blog about new technology and how it is going to affect your industry.  Reach out to others in your industry for quotes or even interviews.  Allow readers to post reviews and questions.  Showcase those reviews to your readers.  Never allow anyone to post a review, without some follow up.  Even if that follow up is a simple “thank you”.

Add Newsletter Subscription Form

Add a newsletter subscription form.  Grow your readers.  Use Mailchimp, Constant Contact, and/or Convertkit to assist with growing your subscription list.  Do not just send update blog to your readers?  Send out surveys.  Have contest with small tokens of your appreciation. Make your subscribers feel like they are important to your brand.

Analyse Blog Performance

Analyse blog performance. Amazingly a lot of prospective clients, have no idea about the traffic or lack of traffic on their website.  They do not know, anything about their blog post performance.  How many folks are coming to their site?  Where are they coming from?  What value are you adding to them?  How are you leveraging your mailing list?

Promote your Blog

Promote your blog.  Just having a blog is step #1.  You need to promote your blog, in your social media platforms.  Add surveys.  Hold contest.  Discuss case studies.  Make readers want to come back.

If you are looking for a better return on your investment (ROI), then I am available to discuss your project.  I can be reached at info@jdswebdesign.biz,  and 678-718-5489.
