How to get TRAFFIC to your blog?

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

To unlock how to get (more) traffic to your blog post, you will need to create CONTENT!!!  However most bloggers know that, but what type of content.  Outside of good content, which is engaging content.  Content relevant to your target audience.  Content that your target audience desires.  Content using the following tools…tutorials, reviews, problems and solutions, interviews, and personal stories.

Tutorials

Do you have a favorite blogger?  Hopefully it is jdswebdesign.com .   While writing great content is a given, one way to create great content is providing tutorials.  Teaching your target audience how to accomplish a pain point.  Tutorials should be a step by step example of how to solve a potential issues. Just remember one thing…KISS (Keep it simple sir).

Reviews

For the life of us, we will never know why readers need guinea pigs.  No one wants to be the tester, so an outstanding way to create great content is provide reviews.  Product and service reviews are an good way to stand out as a blogger.  Taking the risk to say if a product or service is good or bad.  Making sure your review is bias and fair.  Whatever your finding is…providing supportive documentation with your findings.

Problems and solutions

If something is a problem area for you and you find a solution, then your target audience probably shares the same pain point. You providing solutions to clear problems is an great type of content.  We experience situations every day, so explaining how you fell into the problem area and how you created the solution. This would be a wonderful way to keep readers coming back for more information.  And would be an easy way to solidify your expertise of your industry.

Interviews

The ability to interview industry movers and shakers is not an easy task.  Having a blog post, in which you interview relevant folks is an easy way to drive traffic.  The hard part is securing the interviews and making sure the content is not boring.  Many movers and shakers are not good interviews.  Staying on task.  Keeping the content fresh.  Providing a list of questions and the ability to pivot and shift is a skill.  Practice interviewing.  Work on your craft.  While this is a traffic generator, it is not an easy thing to do.

Personal Stories

Personal stories make your blog post…personal.  The greatest compliment that we receive is how a blog post talked to one of our readers.  While sitting in our favorite watering hole (coffee shop), you can imagine the next time you are ordering a cup of coffee at Starbucks , or Caribou Coffee, or your local coffee shop…there is someone solving a problem.  Remember the problem could be providing how to create great content.

Others

There are other types of content which could generate traffic.  You could create resource content, list content, news and updates content, check list and to do’s content, info-graphics contents, and podcast content.  It is really more about just being consistent and providing good content.

With all this being said…we are looking forward to seeing more great content !!!
