How to get out of a rut?

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

Mental Health is real.  Mental Health affects everyone. And when you mix in a pandemic, year long face mask, social distancing, unable to visit parents and grand parents, it is very easy to understand how your mental health could be compromised.  So how do you get out of a rut?  Not sure.  Maybe you should speak to a professional.

However, if you would like to know somethings that has help us.

Lower the bar

Lower the bar. This does not mean that you provide less than stellar performance.  Lower the bar refers to case or project load. Instead of working on four or five projects each month, lower it down to two or three projects.  Push out work for 30 – 60 days.  Build in relaxation time in your daily, weekly and monthly schedule. Incorporate relaxation exercise, such as yoga, walking and listening to relaxing music, and/or schedule mediation time.

Get back to the basic

Get back to the basic.  Think about why you started you passion?  Remember all the great times. Move away from growth, growth and more growth.  Keep your business as basic as possible to avoid extending yourself.  Keep it simple.  Do what you do best.  Grow that expertise.

Focus on your process

Focus on your process.  Keep your process consistent.  Map it out.  Review it on a daily basis.  Work on it daily, weekly and monthly. If you do not have a process, then create one.  Stick to your process and make changes only to improve your process.  This consistent flow will eliminate the need to over think projects.

Ask for help

Ask for help.  Do not listen to anyone, who claims that you will fight out of your funk.  No go to a profession and seek help.  There is nothing wrong with seeking professional help.  Again, there is nothing wrong with seeking professional help.
