How to get Donations on your website?

Your organization is in need of donations for an upcoming event, or particular ministry, and/or to keep your doors open.  How does your organization set up a donation section?  First of all, your organization needs a website. A well-thought website, that has been planned out well. Your organization’s website should have a very clearly defined section for donations, and your visitors should have no issues with finding your donation section. Secondly, your organization’s website should have clearly defined content.  This is not the time to let a friend write your content, hire a professional.  Sometimes your organization might only get one time to impress new visitors.  Lastly, make sure your organization’s website is on an URL that makes sense.  Do not send visitors to a directory to find out about your organization.

What is the best way to get Donations?

Your organization’s website should be a secured site. It should have a lock in the browser, and it should be https:.  Your organization should invest in an SSL (secured socket layer), which will protect your visitor’s data and credit card information. Security is essential in your request for a donation.  Next, your organization wants to own your donor’s data.  Do not invest with a third-party company, that owns your donor’s data.  Your organization wants to own your donor’s data.

Your organization wants to tell its story.  How was your organization founded? Incorporate some testimonials, written and video.  These should be heart-filled stories, which showcase the importance of your organization. Your organization should take full advantage of social media.  Make sure your organization is posting on a daily basis about your donation campaign.  Have a beginning and ending timeframe for your donation campaign.  Create a hashtag that centers around your campaign and make sure that your organization is being very transparent about the donation campaign.

Enable mobile giving.  Most of the traffic on websites comes from mobile devices.  Your website should be responsive.  If it is possible, then have a mobile application.  The donation process should be very easy to begin and complete.  Three-page click is the maximum.  Stay away from repeated requests, your organization does not want to frustrate a potential donor.  Send out thank you responses to all your donors. Make the thank you response personal, and follow up with the donors about the success of the campaign.  If you need any help setting up a donation campaign on your website, then feel free to contact us at info@jdswebdesign.biz or 678-718-5489.
