Four Types of Blog Posts to showcase your EXPERTISE
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
We all realize that blogging can drive traffic to our websites. Some of us blog monthly, weekly, and daily. How can we blog to showcase our expertise? You can showcase your expertise with four types of blog posts. How-to tutorials, Downloadable Checklist and to-do list, List articles, and Comparison blog posts. These types of blog posts can get somewhat technical, so you might want to create a couple of blog posts instead of writing 5,000-word blog posts. Remember you are showcasing your expertise and not trying to bore your readers.
How-to tutorials
How to tutorials are self-explanatory? You will need to find a pain point and just write about how to solve the issue. Begin the blog post explaining the issues. Then, write how to solve the issue. Make sure that you write all the steps down and even test it on a sample problem. The last thing you want is to leave out a step. Good how-to tutorials even anticipate issues that could spring up and how to solve them. Leave your comments open, and make sure you answer any questions, even if it means updating your blog posts.
Downloadable Checklist and to-do list
This is different from your to-do tutorials. This is a good way to gain a new customer or client. Find out what your target audience needs. Write about how to solve a pain point. Offer a downloadable product, such as an ebook, or maybe some consultation time with you. Let your prospect know that their email is going to be placed in a workflow. Send them more call-to-action triggers to access their needs and promote your expertise. Many marketers use this type of blog post to showcase their expertise and gain prospective clients.
List Articles
List articles is a blog post in which you list articles that can be of interest to your target audience. Some bloggers will list articles to showcase the latest and newest trends. They will have an excerpt from an article with links back to the original article. Make sure the list of articles is similar. This is not a comparison, but a list of similar articles. Some of the articles should be just presented from a different perspective.
Comparisons
Comparison blog posts are a great way to display the pros and cons of two products, articles, or opinions. You will need to select what to compare. This should be something that is important to your target audience. Next, you will need to do your research on both products, articles, and/or opinions. Next, you should showcase in a non-bias way the pros and cons of both (or as many as you like) products, articles, and/or opinions.
Conclusion
Remember you are showcasing your expertise with this type of blog post. Do your research. Showcase why you should be viewed as an expert.
