How to change non profit organization business models?

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

We are living in a new norm.  Social distancing is a real part of our daily living.  Tape on the ground, individuals not allow to participate in sports.  Church building closed.  Church services live stream.  Zoom has become the new way to communicate with family, friends, colleagues. How is a non profit organization going to survive with all these new constraints?

Start Small

We are working with several non profit organization.  Begin small.  Develop an email list.  Set up an email capture.  Offer something in exchange for a visitor’s email.  Create a book, around your expertise.  Discuss your passion for your organization.  Offer insight into your passion.  Write a book and offer the book in exchange for a visitor’s email.

Develop a podcast.  Create a following.  Talk about subjects important to your organization.  Podcast weekly.  Have guest on your podcast.  Look for pod caster in your niche.  Place your podcast on all available mediums.  Ask listeners to provide excellent rating.  Set up an email, for visitors to post what they would like to hear.  Do question and answer (q&a) podcast?

Big Picture

Create an email list and start a podcast with big picture thinking in mind.  You want to establish who and what are your target audience.  Get creative, hold facebook watch parties. Hold zoom raffle parties.  Post daily on social media platforms.  Grow your influence.  Remember most are at home, find out your niche audience. Dig into what their passions are…and if they align with your mission statement, then work toward a common ground.  Look for new ways to look at the big picture.

Do not allow our lack of contact to effect your non profit organization?  Think outside the box.  Find new and innovative ways to communicate.  Make sure that you continue to work in the community.  Make sure you are using all mediums to allow coverage of your organization. Send out press releases.  The news and our community is starving for good news.  Be the vehicle of that positive news.

Better Solutions

Non profit organizations have been around for over 100 years.  We did not have social media in the early 1900’s.  We did not have television in the early 1900’s.  Most did not have automobiles.  Airlines were not around.  Few had telephones.  Most did not attend college.  Yet non profit organization survived.  Maybe we need to look at how to solve the big problems with better solutions.

Create your on problem solving equations.  You need more donations.  Create campaigns in which you grow your base, by using social media platforms.  Grow your base by doing press releases.  Grow your base by holding daily / weekly facebook watch parties.  Ask influencers in your niche to broadcast your campaign.  Invite them to be apart of your campaign.  If their believes and your mission are tie together, then maybe a joint event can be done.  Look for better solutions.

Keep pushing on…things will get better.
