Here is some tips to combat COVID-19 for faith based and non profit organizations.
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
Like most of us, Coronavirus has change the way we conduct business. We are frequently reaching out to our clients and potential clients. After the shock and uncertainly has worn off, most of our clients are wondering how to combat our new normalcy. While we are not experts, we have been doing the following and it has help us out tremendously.
I’m Open
Because most are closing on a daily basis, you need to make sure that everyone knows that you are open. If you have changed, how to receive your products or services…then make sure it is on your home page. If you are a faith based organization, and you have changed your services. Make sure that you are live streaming and showing up on time. Visitors are not waiting. If you are a non profit organization and you are podcasting, then make sure you are uploading your podcast. If it is a weekly podcast on Monday’s at 4:00pm, then every Monday your visitors are expecting to hear you.
If you are practicing social distancing and your building is closed, then make sure you are letting your visitors know how to receive your services or products. If you are selling a product, then go with the overkill methods. Once someone has purchase a product, send them an email of confirmation. As changes occur, you have pulled the product off the shelf, send them an email. You are putting the product in the mail, send them an email. You have a confirmation date of delivery, send them an email. You have been advised the product has been deliver, send them an email. You have to be proactive during these times. If a unexpected delay has occured, then (you got it) send them an email.
Address and Hours of Operation
Check to make sure your address and hours of operation are correct on any platform. If you have a facebook , twitter, linkedin, and instagram account, then make sure your information is consistent with what is on your website. You do not want to confuse your followers.
Some local platforms are pulling your information from social media platforms, so you might not be aware of them. We have advised (and in some case, done it for them ) our clients to check with Moz for a listing of local listing. While you love customers finding about you from other services, now is a time to stay proactive and keep your information up to date. Especially how to find you, and when you will be available.
Refresh Content
Your services are still needed. You need to continue to put out fresh content. If you are a faith based organization, then you need to put your messages on live stream. You might want to create an audio podcast to share motivational messages. You might want to hold questions and answer (QA) sessions on zoom or facebook live.
While we might not be able to meet in building, we can still check on each other. Using zoom for non profit organization can be an invaluable tool. Making sure you are on the mind of your target audience is vital to your survival. Blog post is a great way to reach out to customers. Reassuring your target audience, that your organization is still working on its mission. Building an email list, to put forth valuable information to your target audience.
Conclusion
This too shall past! We will need to be very diligence on how we treat this virus. We need to listen to the health care professionals. We need to be smart business owners. We need to make sure that we are communicating our messages to our target audience.
