How to Balance Work and Life in 2023?

These past several years have been rough for everyone, living through a pandemic and all the challenges associated with that life-altering experience. It is critical to begin discussing balance.  We created a post called Balance, which focused on the concept of keeping a healthy balance between work and life. This post is going to dive a little deeper and look at some potential stress outliers, how those stress elements can affect you, and how to create a balance between work and life. We are not a professional health professional and would recommend it if you are in need of help. Then seek some professional help.

Potential Cause

Some potential causes of stress are finances, health issues, childcare obligations, loss of a loved one, and divorce or poor relationships.

*Financial – We have noticed a slight tick-up in potential opportunities, but that has not meant a huge influx of cash.  We established a system early in our agency, certain elements are our top priority, and they get paid first. Others are like wants, and if we have the cash, then they become reality.

*Health – Your number one responsibility is to take care of your health. And the first thing that you should do is go to a doctor for annual checkups. Be honest with your doctor about any ailments or issues, and follow up with your health professional.

*Childcare – During the pandemic, childcare was not an issue.  Most of us were working from home and just watched our kids. Now that some of us are being required to go back into the office, this could become an issue.  Prioritize your spending, and make sure you have cash to take care of your responsibilities.

*Loss of a loved one – Maybe it is us, but it seems like we have lost a lot of friends over the past several years.  These losses have played a tremendous role in depression and have made several spend a few more days away from work for personal reasons. And that is okay, it is also okay to speak to a professional with any concerns.

*Divorce and poor relationships – Many experts felt that the pandemic would bring folks closer, but the reality of not being able to leave home had a reverse role in some relationships. The loss of a partner or the acknowledgment of a bad relationship is not good.

These are a few potential causes of stress.

How stress affects you?

While we are not health professionals, stress can increase anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, stomach issues, irritability concerns, depression, withdrawal, and substance abuse. If you are experiencing any of these issues, then feel free to contact a healthcare professional.

How does stress impact your work?

Lack of focus, poor time management, inability to make a decision, and the inability to recognize damaged relationships are a few ways that stress impacts your work.

Maintain Balance

How to maintain balance in your work live world?  Be open and honest with yourself. Set boundaries and stick to them. Set a schedule and do not deviate from your schedule, set time off or personal time, and develop healthy coping mechanisms to deal with stress. Stress is unavoidable, but having some things in place to help your cope with stress is just as important as the completion of your next project.
