What are ways that my StartUp website can be more effective at social media marketing?
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
There are six ways in which you can be more effective at social media marketing. Use more than one platform, establish goals, post consistently, build relationships, use automation tools, and explore live video are some techniques. While there are many more reason, we are looking at ways to be more effective. On a side note, we will not be discussing why social media marketing is needed in this blog.
Use more than one platform
Sounds simple, but duplicate work also meets resistance. We will discuss some ways to automatic this process. You must use more than one platform. We recommend using the following platforms for all your post, in this order for StartUp. Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube. The first four are critical, and the last two not so much… our case studies have shown that most StartUps get the biggest bang for the bucks on Linkedin, Facebook Business Page, Twitter and Instagram.
Reason for being on more than one platform, is you do not control the platform of your target audience. Therefore, you need to be visible on their prefer platform.
What are your marketing goals? Do you want to introduce yourself? Do you have a new product or service? Are you trying to showcase your expertise in a industry or market? Maybe you want provide a new alternative to your target audience? What a wonderful way than to connect with your target audience?
We believe in goals. We track our goals using the SMART method (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, and Time Bound). Your social media marketing plan should be to target a specific goal, you should be measuring the results, having an actionable plan, with some relevant goals and it should be time bound or within a specific time.
Unlike a blog post, you will need to post on your social media platform daily. Remember you are interacting with your target audience to showcase your expertise. You should have relevant content. You should stay away from content not relevant to your goals or missions.
You should use #hashtags. You should use images, related to your post. You should use the location tag, especially if your target audience is in a specific area. Location can be a huge concerns…
We recommend building relationships with two types of visitors. You will need to build relationships with influences. You should be following your competitors. You need to share their post. You need to make comments, nothing negative…but if it is a relevant post. Congratulate them…or offer another point of view.
You need to build relationship with your followers. Offer small tokens of appreciations. Conduct surveys on your social media platforms. People love to receive prizes. Prizes are not always purchased gifts. Proving shouts out on social media platforms…give out titles, “You are our Ambassador for this month !”…share relevant post from them to your network. This could be huge to them and their network.
Use Automation Tools
Most StartUps companies do not have it in their budget to hire a social media manager…or some just do not want to hire one. In either case, there are a few tools which will post your content. They will not write or share your content. So you will still need to create the content and engage your followers. In not particular order, the ones which we recommend are Agorapulse, Sprout Social, Hoot Suite , and Sendible.
This is a new feature to social media platform. This is a great way to stay engaged with your target audience. Post a live video a couple times a month. Discuss items of concern and how your StartUp can ease concerns. You can post live videos on Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube. These are free marketing tools (at least at the time of this post). Just a simple way to stay engage with your target audience.
