5 Things to do with your free time
In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing. Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly. We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.
With our new norm, most of us are having to deal with family in close quarters and social distancing. Along with some free time, but you can take advantage of your new free time. And what you do with your free time, can be essential to your growth and development. One of the biggest myths about free time is that you will be bored all the time. In reality, most of us will have plenty of task to complete during this new norm. Unfinished projects, keeping our environment clean, and practicing social distancing, is just a some of our daily task. Seeking things to do, typically doe not find itself on our to do list.
Some things to do with your free time include working on your website. And specific..your website’s Research, Update Portfolio, Social Media, Exercise, and Cleaning.
Research
Web design is constantly changing. Being on top of new techniques, themes, plugins, and trends are very important. Unfortunately if you are working on several projects, then you will not have adequate time to place on these type of issues. Spending time listening to your favorite podcast. Making sure you are testing your skill on demo sites.
Reading books, and blog about the growth of your industry or niche. This not only will assist you in your growth as a free lancer and entrepreneur. Always remember that your work is a business, a simple guide to starting a business was discuss in a earlier blog.
Portfolio
Take time to make sure your website is up to date. (I am guilty of this) Make sure to upload your latest projects. Some top free lancer designer fail to update their site, and their feature projects are ones which were completed several years ago. Take some time to update your portfolio. Make sure you are working on your presence on Google and other search engines.
Spending a few minutes looking at your website, can be the difference in getting that next project.
Social Media
Nothing makes you less popular (or influencial) than a stale or dead social media platform. Most free lancer do not have the budget or time to post daily. Most are present on several platforms, from Facebook, Twitter, Instragram, and Linkedin. How do you clear up time to be on Social Media platform, without spending too much time on it.
When you have some free time,is a good time to spend on your social media platforms. Try to post something motivating, interesting, or niche worth…stay away from political views and other controversial topics. Make sure your have a business social media and personal one. On your personal social media platform, you can post anything…remember your business is for business.
Exercise
Taking care of your body is very important. Getting regular check ups. Joining, and attending on a regular basis, a gym is important. Hiring a trainer. Eating properly. Getting plenty of sleep. These can be done, when you have some down time. Remember you will not be busy 10 hours a day, and if you are… you might want to spread out your projects or hire someone.
Cleaning
A strong believer, that how organizes and clean your work environment is…will have an impact on how you are able to work on your projects. Keeping a healthy and clean office is very important. Spend a few moments of your free time to clean your office and check out how you will begin wrapping up projects.
Conclusion
When you are wondering about how to secure your next project. When a project fall through. Do not fret…look at that time as some free time to work on your skills, and yourself. Keeping a balance is so important.
