What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments are currently enabled on this site.  They require the approval of the site owner prior to being active on the post.

Contact forms

The form on the Contact page sends a message from you to one of my email account and gmail (google) account, including your email address. You can use the same form to request that I delete your email address or other personal information submitted to me through this site. Otherwise, I may retain your information for up to 14 months for customer service purposes.

The “Subscribe to My Blog” form sends a message to my newsletter service, MailChimp. Through MailChimp, I can see the email addresses of my subscribers, including those who have unsubscribed, as well as data on whether MailChimp messages have been opened and what links may have been clicked.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

I use Google Analytics and Webmaster tools as well as Bing Webmaster Tools to track visits to this site. Google and Bing anonymize the data according to their own policies and practices; I see general information such as visitor location, time of visit, and pages visited.

Through the contact form on the Contact page, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

This site was created to do three primary tasks:

  1. Serve as an online portfolio for my work as a writer and editor.
  2. Offer a blog to subscribers and other visitors.
  3. Provide a way to contact me through email, using the form on my Contact page.
