How to bring them back?

In the mist of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), we at JDS WebDesign are hoping everyone is safe, washing your hands frequently, sneezing and coughing in your elbow, and practicing social distancing.  Over the next several weeks, we are planning on blogging about how to make your website more business friendly.  We will have some tutorials on our favorite plugins and features, which will make your site more efficient.

It has been a while.  Let’s take a look at my Monday, October 29th.  Busy and typical Monday with a hint of “How to bring them (clients) back”, was the theme of the day.

Start early

My day began at 7:00pm.  I finished up a blog post, which was schedule to be released at 11:00am.  My blog was about Giving My Client’s What They Want.  Grab my 1st cup of coffee, and took my kids to school.  After a brief conversation with my kids, back to the office I went.  Located the perfect image on unsplash and a few tweaks using yoast plugin.

The blog post was completed around 9:30am (could not post it until the perfect image was located).  Time to check email.  Knocked out all the emergencies and urgent emails.  I had about 25 emails (about 15 were urgent).  Grab my second cup of coffee, and knocked out each of the urgent emails.

Back and forth

It is 9:00am, I have to make a few calls.

Reached out to a local graphic artist, we had been playing phone tag all last week.  Needed to set up a morning meeting to discuss changes to his site.  This is an November project and should be a really simple project, especially since I designed the current project.  Appointment is set for mid week, we probably do breakfast and catch up.

A few weeks ago, I sent a design template to a local business women.  She loved it and text me about moving forward mid week. Had to explain my template process to my new client?  Showcase the demo, sent invoice and basic contract, invoice needs to be executed, client will need to forward dns to their url, demo is uploaded to client’s url with countdown, and finally a one hour training session is schedule (how to change out content).  Client wanted to meet and pay, which is fine…however, since no payment or upload information.  Then another meeting is going to be needed.

Noticed no index card of daily task was filled out.  Complete weekly (white index card) and daily (light blue or teal index card).

Regular task

it is 11:30am.  Third cup of coffee (I know…I know).

Uploaded bulletin and new events for faith base organization.  Check my email, had to upload readers list and weekly bible readings.  Placed a few items on their facebook page.

Worked on a motivational speaker’s blog post.  Had to upload three blog post, one scheduled for Wednesday, Friday and the following Monday.  Executed invoice for my ghost writer.

Uploaded a sermon. Updated calendar of events for another client, who happens to be a faith based organization.

Time to eat

Grab a sandwich and some fruit. Took a short nap.  Got up and stretch and listened to a couple of my favorite podcast.

Second part of my day

Worked on a current project.  Uploaded new content.  Reflected on notes from past meeting.  Project is close to launch. Need to make sure links work.  Checking it on all browser and devices.

Next contact client, who had some email issues.  Worked with Zoho on the issues.  A quick call to make sure client issues were solved. Sent out a starbuck’s coupon.

Conference call with my developer. Check on status of current project. Needed to make a few teaks. Made sure, we was on the same page for the scope. Set up a lunch date.

Check emails

It is 4:00pm.

Last check of emails.  Knocked out all my emails.

Received a call from a current client, about search engine optimization project.  Wanted to added it to current project. Quoted it out. Will send contract in the morning.

Called client, who has a new marketing manager.  Provided marketing manager with update protocol.  Asked for any input on site.   Discuss some changes for the site.  Gave my direct line and encourage the marketing manager to call me anytime during business hours.

Long day

It is 6:30pm.

Log off. Had dinner with the family, and discuss what was going on in their worlds.

So how to keep them coming back?  Never forget whose your client.  It really is that simple.
